On Friday, March 21, 2025, Scar Foundation volunteers engaged with students at Okoman MA Basic School in Accra, Ghana. The school, located in the Ga South Municipality, serves around 450 students from five neighboring communities.
The day’s program began with a warm welcome address from the school’s headmaster, Mr. Charles Ofori Akunnor. Ms. Rebecca Coffie, Coordinator for SCAR-Ghana, introduced the purpose of the visit, followed by a 2-hour counseling session with Grade 7-9 students.

The session was led by Ms. Gladys Ofosu, a youth-led consultant, who spoke on “Career Guidance” and “Personal Development.” She emphasized effective habits for improving learning outcomes, such as punctuality, consistent note-taking, and forming study groups. Ms. Ofosu also encouraged students to explore their strengths and abilities when choosing a career path.

Mr. Nii Kpakpo Allotey Pappoe and Ms. Leticia Odurowaa Addai also shared inspiring messages, emphasizing the importance of respecting teachers, adhering to school rules, and believing in oneself.

The interactive session was filled with fun and engaging discussions, with students asking thoughtful questions about their career choices, personal development, and daily lives. The volunteers provided surprise bags containing learning materials to the students.

Dalab Joseph, a Grade 9 student, was awarded a special bag for being the most engaging student of the day.
The second part of the program involved donating teaching and learning materials to the KG department and three Formica boards for Grade 4-6 students.

Scar Foundation expressed gratitude to the headmaster, teachers, community leaders, and students for their warm welcome. The organization also appreciated its volunteers, donors, and stakeholders for their support.
The headmaster highlighted the school’s current needs, including a library, ICT lab, Formica boards, and other teaching and learning materials.

Scar Foundation calls on individuals and organizations to support and partner with them to engage more communities and extend love to those in need.
