Hohoe United FC has officially announced its withdrawal from the ongoing 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League with immediate effect, citing concerns over what it describes as systemic unfairness in the league’s disciplinary processes.
In a formal letter dated April 1, 2026, addressed to the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, the club communicated its decision to pull out of the competition for the remainder of the season.
According to the statement, the decision follows what the club perceives as bias in disciplinary actions, particularly relating to a three-match home ban currently imposed on the team. Hohoe United FC indicated that the situation reflects deeper issues of inconsistency and unfair treatment within the league’s governance structure.
The club emphasized that its withdrawal is not a sign of collapse but rather a “principled stand against injustice.” Despite the abrupt exit, the team expressed gratitude to the Ghana Football Association for past opportunities and extended well wishes to the league.
Club owner Tom Amewu-Duglu signed the letter, reinforcing the club’s position and signaling a firm stance on the matter.
