Hon. John Jinapor , Minister for Energy will be updating Ghanaians today, Monday 27th April,2026 at 2 pm on recent developments in the electricity distribution sector.

The briefing will come in responses to events that have raised concerns about management of the country’s power supply including the recent fire at the Akosombo Power Control Centre and the leadership issues within the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Ashanti Region.

The briefing will offer Hon. Jinapor the forum to address questions about the fire incident at Akosombo and also provide clarification on measures being put in place to address ongoing issues in the energy sector.

The Minister’s statement is expected to provide more information on the government’s response to the fire incidents and also highlight on leadership changes within the energy distribution framework.

The CEO of Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has been asked to step down by the minister for energy following investigations into the fire outbreak at the Akosombo Power Control Centre.
