Ghanaian musician Criss Waddle has called for the removal of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, arguing that repeatedly changing coaches has failed to improve the fortunes of the Black Stars.

Waddle’s comments come after Ghana suffered back-to-back defeats in the opening two matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Black Stars began their campaign with a 2–0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24 before suffering a 4–2 loss to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 29. The results have left Ghana without a point from their opening two Group C matches.

In a post on X, Waddle questioned why coaches continue to be blamed for the national team’s struggles despite the GFA having made several changes to the technical leadership over the years.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dismissed or sacked at least over 10 head coaches in the past years yet still our football trajectory hasn’t changed,” Waddle wrote.

He added: “Why do we still blame Coaches in 2026? We must be joking…”

Waddle subsequently turned his criticism towards the leadership of the football association, stating: “GFA president himself has to be sacked.”

His comments add to the ongoing public debate over the management of Ghana football and the continued struggles of the Black Stars.

The latest defeats have intensified calls for accountability, with the team’s 4–2 loss to The Gambia particularly drawing criticism after Ghana surrendered a two-goal lead at home.

Waddle’s post suggests that, in his view, the problems facing the national team go beyond the coach and require greater accountability within the football administration.
