
Ghana’s Ministry of the Interior has announced that Monday, March 31, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be public holidays in celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr.
A press release issued on Saturday, March 22, 2025, and signed by the Minister of the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, stated that Eid-Ul-Fitr will be observed on either Sunday, March 30, or Monday, March 31, 2025.
Eid-Ul-Fitr, which falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025, is a statutory public holiday, but since it lands on a Sunday, the government has declared the additional holidays to allow the public to properly observe the occasion.
The decision was made by the President of the Republic of Ghana, in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601).
Eid-Ul-Fitr is an Islamic festival that marks the end of Ramadan, typically celebrated with prayers, gratitude, charity, and festive meals.

Declaration of Monday, 31st March 2025 and Tuesday, 1st April 2025 as Public Holidays
The general public is hereby informed that Sunday, 30th March, 2025 or Monday, 31st March, 2025 marks Eid-Ul-Fitr which is a Statutory Public Holiday.
However, in view of the fact that 30th March 2025 falls on a Sunday and in the interest of the public, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I.), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601) declared Monday, 31st March 2025 and Tuesday, 1st April 2025 as additional Public Holidays and should be observed as such throughout the country.
