Ghanaian national Joseph Kwadwo Badu Boateng, popularly known as “Dada Joe Remix,” has pleaded guilty in the United States to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Boateng was arrested in Ghana on May 27, 2025, on an extradition warrant and was extradited to the United States in June 2025. He has remained in custody since his arrest.

According to his plea agreement, Boateng and his accomplices operated a romance and inheritance fraud scheme between 2013 and March 2023, targeting elderly victims in Arizona and across the United States. They posed as romantic partners through online dating platforms, text messages, and other electronic communications. They also falsely claimed to have inherited gold and jewels and convinced victims to pay taxes and other fees to release the supposed assets.

As part of the plea agreement, Boateng agreed to pay approximately US$4.4 million in restitution to compensate victims for their losses. He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 8, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Angela M. Martinez.
