The Government of Ghana has officially declared Friday, April 3, 2026, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as statutory public holidays in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 30, 2026, and signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the general public was urged to recognize and observe both days as public holidays across the country.
The announcement forms part of Ghana’s annual recognition of the Easter festivities, a significant period in the Christian calendar marked by reflection, sacrifice, and celebration.
Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, while Easter Monday is observed as a continuation of the Easter celebrations, often marked by rest and social activities.
Citizens, institutions, and businesses are therefore expected to comply with the directive and observe the holidays accordingly.
