The Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency, Ida Adjoa Asiedu, has cut the sod for the expansion of the Coaltar Health Centre as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the area.

The project includes the construction of modern male and female wards, a consulting room, and new toilet facilities, alongside renovation works on the existing structure, including painting and concrete upgrades.

The MP said additional works would also be carried out at the Asuboi and Amanase health centres, where delivery rooms are set to be refurbished to enhance maternal healthcare services across the constituency.

According to her, the initiative is being funded through the District Assembly Common Fund, which is designated for community development projects aimed at directly benefiting residents.

She noted that although the constituency was unable to benefit from the government’s Agenda 111 initiative due to land litigation challenges, efforts are being made to upgrade existing facilities to meet growing healthcare demands.

As part of the ceremony, essential medical equipment—including delivery beds, foetal Doppler machines, blood pressure apparatus, and weighing scales—was donated to the Coaltar Health Centre to support service delivery.

Beyond healthcare, the MP highlighted ongoing development efforts in the constituency, including a factory project nearing completion to create employment opportunities for young people, as well as initiatives to address teenage pregnancy and support students in tertiary institutions.

She expressed appreciation to the Health Directorate, traditional authorities, and community members for their continued support, reaffirming her commitment to the development of Ayensuano.
