Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon. John Setor Dumelo, has announced the launch of a free weekly distribution of Ghana-made cocoa drinks to public basic school pupils in the constituency.

According to a statement dated February 19, 2026, the initiative will take effect from March 2, 2026. All pupils from Class 1 to Class 4 in public basic schools within Ayawaso West Wuogon will benefit from the program, which will run once a week until the end of the year.

The MP noted that cocoa is a highly nutritious product rich in essential antioxidants, iron, and magnesium, which are vital for cognitive development and maintaining high energy levels among growing children.

Beyond its health benefits, the initiative is also aimed at boosting the local economy. By sourcing exclusively Ghana-made cocoa products, the program is expected to support local cocoa farmers and manufacturers.

Hon. Dumelo further stated that the intervention seeks to enhance school attendance by providing nutritious incentives to encourage consistent enrolment and participation in public schools.

Describing the initiative as a reflection of national pride, he emphasized the importance of helping children appreciate Ghana’s cocoa heritage, often referred to as the “gold” of the land.

“This program is a testament to our belief that a healthy child is a teachable child,” the statement read. “Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and smarter future for Ayawaso West Wuogon.”

The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the MP to improve education and child welfare within the constituency.
