His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Ashanti Regional Police Command and the IGP’s Special Operations Team (SOT) for their unwavering commitment to combating crime and strengthening security across the country.
The commendation was made during a courtesy call at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, when the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP) Arthur Osei Akoto, led the Director of the IGP’s Special Operations Team, Superintendent Augustine Dawson-Ahmoah, his deputies and other members of the team to pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene.
During the meeting, COP Arthur Osei Akoto formally introduced the Special Operations Team to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and highlighted the Inspector-General of Police’s initiative to establish the unit to strengthen intelligence-led policing and enhance public safety.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II noted that the sustained intelligence-led operations undertaken by the Special Operations Team have significantly improved security in the Ashanti Region. He observed that the operations have contributed to reducing crimes such as drug trafficking, robbery, human trafficking and other criminal activities.
The Asantehene further encouraged police officers to remain steadfast, disciplined and professional in the discharge of their duties. He described policing as a noble profession that demands dedication, sacrifice and integrity, while urging personnel to prioritise their safety as they carry out their lawful responsibilities.
Speaking on behalf of the Special Operations Team, Superintendent Augustine Dawson-Ahmoah expressed appreciation to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his encouragement and reaffirmed the team’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations aimed at protecting lives and property, while supporting the Ghana Police Service in maintaining peace and security across the country.
